Associated General Contractors (AGC )- Shreveport Chapter represents 450 construction firms in North Louisiana, including General Contractors, Subcontractors, Specialty-Contractors, Suppliers, Manufacturers, and Professional Service firms. AGC - Shreveport Chapter has been serving the North Louisiana area since 1925 and is the largest construction trade association in the area. Membership services include: Business development - distribution of over 2000 Construction Buyer’s Guides to area construction procurement managers, including cities, parishes, school districts, universities, hospitals, churches, developers, building owners and corporations. Full Service Plans Room - in 2000, this plans room advertised over $500 million in public agency construction projects. In addition, this plans room has a construction plans copier(Xerox 2515) for members to utilize in order to duplicate blueprints. Also, AGC publishes a weekly construction report which summarizes all public and private construction projects that are maintained in the plans room. In addition, AGC and its partner, F.W. Dodge provide an Internet virtual plans room service. Legislative support - AGC is the leading construction trade association in the nation and has one of the strongest lobbying efforts in the state and in Washington, D.C. AGC has consistently influenced legislation, on a local, state and federal level, that affects the construction industry. Training - AGC sponsors a wide range of safety, supervisory, and craft training courses for the industry and its membership. Public Bid Laws - AGC publishes a Louisiana Construction Law booklet which provides information on the construction statutes.
